Ana Cordoba survived a meteor shower that decimated the memory of most humans and now must survive a post-apocalyptic world without electricity or drinking water. She finds Sam, a friend who helps her get past her own loneliness and food scarcity to a seemingly sustainable life. That new life is interrupted when Sam is taken hostage to help an ad hoc resistance movement trying to fight the apparent takeover of the Earth by an alien species. This species spent a thousand years preparing to come to Earth to blend in with humans only to find it decimated by the meteor shower that took the memory, and ultimately the lives of most humans. The alien encampments are surrounded by a barrier and there is no apparent way to even contact them or engage them in the hopes they will leave. Ana joins the resistance group to be with Sam and find a way to contact the aliens in her hope of establishing some sort of peace agreement with them.
In a typical doomsday scenario, aliens attack and virtually destroy the earth to acquire its resources. What if there were a way to accomplish the same thing without the devastating war?
What if the beautiful light show produced by a new meteor shower was in fact an invasion by an alien species intent on eliminating humans to acquire Earth’s resources without a war?
The meteor shower inundated the Earth with a chemical that over time wipes out the memory of the vast majority of (but not all) humans. Ana Cordoba was only 7 years old when she witnessed the meteor show with everyone else. She was in the very small minority who ultimately were not affected by the chemical, but her world was swept away when most people forgot almost everything, including how to keep things running. She must grow up in a post meteor shower apocalyptic world without electricity and running water and try to survive on her own. Fortunately, she finds Sam, a friend who was also not affected by the chemical and helps her past her own loneliness and food security issues to a seemingly sustainable life.
Their world is turned upside down when Sam is taken hostage by an ad hoc resistance movement trying to fight the apparent takeover of the Earth by an alien species. Their sun was expanding, and their world was becoming uninhabitable, and they spent a thousand years preparing to come to Earth and blend in, only to be severely affected by the remnants of the chemical dispersed by the meteor shower of a different alien species. The alien encampments are surrounded by a barrier and there doesn’t seem to be way for the resistance movement to even contact them to persuade them to leave. Ana joins the resistance movement to be with Sam, to help them find a way to contact the aliens and she hopes, form some sort of peace agreement with them.
